2021 Horror Anime That We Never saw Coming.

If you have watched enough high-school, romcom, shonen anime and seek to watch horror, mystery anime or you are a mystery anime fan who is intensely seeking horror anime with the dark story, breathtaking suspense, bone-chilling thriller, and scariest plot then Meiruko chan is the best horror anime of this season which may beat the shit out of you. If you have already watched it then you can guess what am I talking about. It is so scary that they even put the disclaimer before watching it.

Talking about Meiruko chan it is a horror anime, kinda. Miko Yotsuya the protagonist is an ordinary high school student who has the unfortunate ability to see horrifying ghosts and spirits that haunt her and the people around her. Despite this, Miko does her best to ignore the existence of ghosts and tries to live out a normal high school life. By reading the premise you can think of some amazing horrific plot that the anime gonna have. When First the trailer was out I was excited to watch the anime thinking that it would hook me up.

I haven't read the manga so I don't have any clue about it either that's how it gonna turn out. Then after its release, I watched the first episode and I was really hooked on it but in a cultural way. It was totally out of my expectations. This Anime has such an interesting premise that if it would take a darker story approach then it would have become a really good anime of this season. But this chooses the approach of fan service and a slice of life which kinda defeats the purpose of the horror anime.

In spite of the horrific nature of the show, I am still watching and you are thinking it's because of the protagonist's best friend, no. Its because it is interesting to watch the protagonist deal with the situation when she comes in contact with ghosts or spirits. And the spirits portrayed are sometimes really creepy which might be the only horror element if I am not wrong. Another positive aspect of this anime is that some of the scenes manage to make us emotional and the background music perfectly goes with the scene. It shows not only the bad spirits but the good spirits as well including the god which makes the anime wholesome type. I recommend this anime to watch just don't expect the scariest plot but it sure does have some nice scenes.
