2.Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror

The very first anime on the list is of the horror genre which shows us a collection of three classic Japanese horror stories: "Yotsuya Kaidan", the story of a wife betrayed by her husband who seeks vengeance even in death. "Tenshu Monogatari", the story of forbidden love between a goddess and a human, and "Bake Neko", the story of a mysterious cat monster with a vendetta against a certain family. Each story takes 4 to 3 episodes in its own unique art style and completes with 11 episodes. If you want to follow along the third story "Bake Neko" has its own spin-off called "Mononoke".

3.Aoi Bungaku

The mystery Anime Aoi Bungaku is divided into 6 different famous Japanese literature made by famous authors from the past and all those 6 works of literature sure were masterpieces indeed. It is a roller coaster full of emotions. One has to think deeper to get the full and real meaning of each arc. You wouldn't really expect what to happen next since it's like a train of irony. You will be left with awe once you finish a certain arc.

4.Genius Party

A collection of seven individual and unique shorts which range from touching to downright bizarre. With each story different from the last, we encounter monsters going to school, a man who has a hard time dealing with himself, and a child who learns the hard way about the circle of life, as well as many other unique characters and experiences with the taste of the action, sci-fi, romance, and fantasy. A journey through the minds of the most prolific artists in Japan, this compilation truly is the setting of a Genius Party.

5.Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories

Another horror anime on the list is a series of short stories based on different Japanese urban legends. The mysterious, yellow-masked Storyteller is a man whose true name and origin are both unknown, the storyteller. He is no ordinary teller of tales. He incorporates a kamishibai, a traditional paper-scrolling device, to add visuals to his already demented narration. The animation style is vintage and plain which fits perfectly for horror anime. Each episode explores the different characters, environment, plot with a runtime of only 4 minutes. It has 9 seasons and each season contains 11-12 episodes. It is one of the best horror anime I've watched.
